In Memoriam

Rishabh Mehrotra

Rishabh Mehrotra - husband, father, son, brother, friend, mentor, and respected leader - died of a heart attack on July 26, 2025 while on vacation in New England with his family. He was 55. Born in Bombay, India on October 9, 1969, Rishabh built a career that spanned continents and industries, and created an immeasurable impact on family, friends, and all others who knew him.

Rishabh spent much of his early years in the hill station of Mussoorie, where he enjoyed the peace and magnificence of the Himalayan foothills. He was a member of the 1987 class of the Doon School in Dehradun, India.

Rishabh was a proud graduate of Tufts University, where he formed lasting friendships and nurtured a lifelong curiosity about the world, and of Harvard Business School, where he refined his skills as a leader. Boston, Massachusetts - the city that shaped so many of his formative years - always held a special place in his heart.

Forever an entrepreneur at heart and in action, Rishabh was the Founder and CEO of Abilizer in San Francisco. Rishabh first came to Louisville, KY for business in 2003 where he ran SHPS as President & CEO until 2012. He and his family then moved to Sydney, Australia where he served as Partner at Archer Capital, CEO of Ascender, and Chairman & Co Founder of Kinela. He most recently served proudly as CEO of Avionte. His work earned him recognition for strategic vision, operational excellence, and a rare talent for bringing out the best in others. He had a knack for seeing the bigger picture - not just in business plans but also in people, and helped them to see it too.

After 5 years in Australia, Rishabh chose to return to Louisville - not because of a job, but because of what the city meant to him. He saw Louisville as a place that valued what he valued: family, connection, curiosity, and kindness. A place that, in his words and in his way, defined itself by who it welcomed in, not by who it turned away. He and his wife, Lopa, knew that this was where they wanted to raise their daughters.

Beyond his professional life, Rishabh loved art and was a passionate collector of contemporary art and Indian miniature paintings. He was deeply engaged with mentorship of young people and always believed that good ideas and good people were meant to be connected. Friends and colleagues remember the way he could make a seemingly casual introduction become a life-changing moment in someone's life. He gave his counsel freely, celebrated others' successes fully, and carried his high standards with generosity, not judgement.

At home, Rishabh was as accomplished in the kitchen as he was in the boardroom. He was a gifted cook who poured creativity and care into meals for family and friends - turning everyday dinners into memorable events and treating food as another way to bring people together.

Above all, Rishabh was a devoted and beloved father and husband. After nearly 30 years of marriage, Rishabh and his wife Lopa were still deeply in love and true friends, and together they created a home filled with warmth and beauty that always welcomed others with open arms. Rishabh's proudest achievement was always being a dad to his daughters, Ariana and Ayala. He was a fun, playful, and loving father and encouraged his children to be brave and embrace life with energy.

Rishabh is survived by his wife, Lopa; his daughters, Ariana and Ayala; his mother, Sunita; his brother, Ambarish, and sister-in-law, Armin; his niece and nephew Kioma and Maneck; his grand-niece Inaya; and his aunt, Meera. He is also survived by a broad extended family, his dog, Milo, and by a wide circle of friends across the globe whose lives are richer for having known him.

Funeral services were conducted according to Hindu customs on July 30 in Windham, NH. A private visitation will be held the weekend of August 15th in Louisville, and a larger Celebration of Life will be held on October 11th in Louisville by invitation only. Please reach out to Ariana and Ayala Mehrotra for details.

If you feel inclined to honor Rishabh with a gift, we have established the Rishabh Mehrotra West End School Scholars Fund. Each year, the fund will fully cover tuition for a student at West End School in Louisville, opening doors to learning, opportunity, and hope—ensuring that Rishabh’s spirit lives on through education and empowerment
